Apricot Walnut Bars

From the kitchen of Mary Hamilton, Bainbridge, Ohio
Prep Time:  Approx. 10 minutes
Ingredients
Crust:
1 1/2 c. flour (sifted)
1/3 c. sugar
3/4 c. margarine or butter

Filling:
1/2 c. flour (sifted)
3/4 t. baking powder
1/4 plus 1/8 t. salt

Beat with mixer and add to flour mixture:
3 eggs
1 1/2 c. (packed) brown sugar
1 t. vanilla
3/4 c. Apricot Jam on crust
walnuts
Directions
Pre-heat Oven to 350 F degrees

Crust:
Mix flour and sugar together. Melt butter; add to dry ingredients and mix until crumbly. Press into greased 9 x 13 pan. Bake for 18 minutes.


Filling:
Mix together flour, baking powder and salt. Beat with mixer the eggs, brown sugar and vanilla. Add to flour mixture.

Spread jam on crust; sprinkle with walnuts. Pour batter on top and bake 25 minutes.

Excellent anytime of the year. Especially good for holidays. Keeps well for picnics too.
